Sheenagh Hunt

Manager – Sheenagh Hunt

I am the Manager of the Centre; I am responsible for developing and maintaining the operational day-to-day running of the Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre. As well as promoting the Centre and the role of simulation throughout the Yorkshire & Humberside Strategic Health Authority region.  I also help in some of the scenarios, so you may experience my “acting skills”.

Dr Alasdair Strachan

Co-Director – Dr Alasdair Strachan

I work at the Centre one day a week. My role is to help develop and run courses in the Centre. I will usually be involved in running the simulations and debriefing them afterward. I am also involved in faculty training to enable a wider range of staff to run courses within the Centre. The rest of the week, I work as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Foundation NHS Trust and also at the South Yorkshire Deanery as Foundation School Co-Director. My major professional interests are training and safety in medicine.

Dr Alastair Graham

We are all Consultant Anaesthetists who work in the centre one or two days a week. One of us will usually be part of the faculty teaching the courses. Our role is to run the simulator and to make sure the educational objectives are met. We will usually be the facilitators for debriefing. We are also involved with audit, research and developing courses.

Dr Paul Bedford

Senior Faculty – Dr Paul Bedford

We are all Consultant Anaesthetists who work in the centre one or two days a week. One of us will usually be part of the faculty teaching the courses. Our role is to run the simulator and to make sure the educational objectives are met. We will usually be the facilitators for debriefing. Diane Nettleton

Technical Co-ordinator – Diane Nettleton

I work 5 days per week and my role as a technicical co-ordinator involves maintaining the manikins and equipment within the centre, and assisting with scenario set ups.

Office Co-ordinator - Wayne Chapman

You may have already spoken to me, I work 5 days per week as the Office Co-ordinator.  The best time to contact the Centre is between 8.30 am – 4.30 pm, so that I can answer your queries and take your bookings, but if you ring and get the answer machine, please leave me a message and I will get back to you the next time I am in the office.

 

Kate McNeil

Educational Lead Practitioner – Kate McNeil

We each work two days a week and are responsible for making sure the Centre is ready for use, as well as developing and facilitating our own courses. You will get to know us, as we will play the role of ODPs, nurses or other parts in your scenario training.

Joanne Barrott

Clinical Skill Regional Manager - Joanne Barrott

I have changed roles and am now the Clinical Skills Regional Manager, for the Yorkshire and Humber region having spent the last two years based here at the Simulation Centre. My new role sees me relocated to Leeds Metropolitan University, developing and building on the work started in 2008.

 The Yorkshire and Humber Clinical Skills Network has also developed over this time and as always, offers support and advice to members . The third Clinical Skills Conference is on 19th November 2010.  The next year will see me travelling again across the region looking at the progress of skills facilities, quality assurance issues and offering advice for Clinical Skills developments.

Michelle McKenzie Smith

Senior Clinical Educator – Michelle McKenzie Smith

I am a Critical Care Nurse with many years of experience caring for seriously ill patients in all areas of critical care including Paediatrics.
I am a qualified ‘Nurse Teacher’ on the NMC Register.
One of my main roles is to develop courses for a diverse range of Health Care Professionals and other NHS employees. As well as participating in current courses in a variety of guises, my role also includes regional and national promotion of simulation as an educational resource. I work 3 days a week at the centre.

Kelly Turkhud

Clinical Educator – Kelly Turkhud

I am an experienced Critical Care Nurse whom has recently joined the team at the Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre as Clinical Educator, 4 days a week. As with Michelle, my role includes developing courses for a wide variety of users whilst endeavouring to make simulation more accessible to the Yorkshire and Humber region. I also participate in current courses in a variety of guises alongside my colleagues.


Faculty

There are other staff included in the faculty, these will usually be specialists in a given medical area of practice e.g. Paediatric Anaesthetists; Obstetricians and have had supplemental training specific to simulation and debriefing.
