Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre Personnel

Sheenagh Hunt

Manager – Sheenagh Hunt

I am the only full time member of staff and as Manager of the Centre; I am responsible for developing and maintaining the operational day-to-day running of the Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre. I also help out in some of the scenarios, so you may experience my “acting skills”.

Dr Alasdair Strachan

Co-Director – Dr Alasdair Strachan

I work at the Centre one day a week. My role is to help develop and run courses in the Centre. I will usually be involved in running the simulations and debriefing them afterward. I am also involved in faculty training to enable a wider range of staff to run courses within the Centre. The rest of the week, I work as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Foundation NHS Trust and also at the South Yorkshire Deanery as Foundation School Co-Director. My major professional interests are training and safety in medicine.

Our role is to run the simulator and to make sure the educational objectives are met. We will usually be the facilitators for debriefing. We are also involved with audit, research and developing courses.

Project Manager - Joanne Barrott

As one of the newest member of the team, I work at the Montagu Simulation Centre approximately one day a week where I assist the team with scenario based training.

My position is full time, so for the remainder of the week I am mapping and scoping both clinical skills and simulation services across the region in order for the Centre to target training to meet the needs of practitioners who have access to little or no simulation based training in their own area. This position is necessary as the SHA expanded in April 2008 and now covers the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber, including North East Lincolnshire, enabling the Centre to offer its training to cover this geographical area.

Michelle McKenzie Smith

Clinical Educator – Michelle McKenzie Smith

Michelle is an experienced Critical Care Nurse, whose primary role is to develop courses for a wide diversity of users. As well as participating in current courses in a variety of guises, her role also includes regional and national promotion of simulation as an educational resource. Michelle works 3 days a week at the centre.

Faculty

There are other staff included in the faculty, these will usually be specialists in a given medical area of practice e.g. Paediatric Anaesthetists; Obstetricians and have had supplemental training specific to simulation and debriefing. If you are interested in becoming part of the Simulation faculty please contact us.
