Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre Personnel

 

Medical Education & Simulation Manager – Sheenagh Hunt

Since June 2011, my role as Manager of the Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre (MCSC) has expanded to encompass management of Post Graduate Medical Education for the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I have responsibilities for the long-term strategic plans and development of both departments, whilst ensuring that the MCSC remains a unique, centre of excellence for inter-professional learning in clinical simulation within the Yorkshire & the Humber Strategic Health Authority region.

Co-Director – Dr Alasdair Strachan

I work at the Centre one day a week. My role is to help develop and run courses in the Centre. I will usually be involved in running the simulations and debriefing them afterward. I am also involved in faculty training to enable a wider range of staff to run courses within the Centre. The rest of the week, I work as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Foundation NHS Trust and also at the South Yorkshire Deanery as Foundation School Co-Director. My major professional interests are training and safety in medicine.

Co-ordinator – Dawn Ibbotson

I am the Centre Co-ordinator; I am responsible for developing and maintaining the operational day-to-day running of the MCSC, as well as promoting the Centre and the role of simulation throughout the Yorkshire & Humberside Strategic Health Authority region. I also help in some of the scenarios, so you may experience my “acting skills”. 

Administrator – Wayne Chapman

I am the Centre Administrator; I am responsible for  maintaining the operational day-to-day running of the Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre. As well as promoting the Centre and the role of simulation throughout the Yorkshire & Humberside Strategic Health Authority region.

Technical Co-ordinator – Diane Nettleton

I work 5 days per week and my role as a technical co-ordinator involves maintaining the manikins and equipment within the centre, and assisting with scenario set ups.

Educational Lead Practitioner – Kate McNeil

We each work two days a week and are responsible for making sure the Centre is ready for use, as well as developing and facilitating our own courses. You will get to know us, as we will play the role of ODPs, nurses or other parts in your scenario training.

Educational Lead Practitioner – Sharon Lukins

We each work two days a week and are responsible for making sure the Centre is ready for use, as well as developing and facilitating our own courses. You will get to know us, as we will play the role of ODPs, nurses or other parts in your scenario training.

Senior Clinical Educator – Michelle McKenzie Smith

I am a Critical Care Nurse with many years of experience caring for seriously ill patients in all areas of critical care including Paediatrics.
I am a qualified ‘Nurse Teacher’ on the NMC Register.
One of my main roles is to develop courses for a diverse range of Health Care Professionals and other NHS employees. As well as participating in current courses in a variety of guises, my role also includes regional and national promotion of simulation as an educational resource. I work 3 days a week at the centre.

Clinical Educator – Kelly Turkhud

I am an experienced Critical Care Nurse whom has recently joined the team at the Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre as Clinical Educator, 4 days a week. As with Michelle, my role includes developing courses for a wide variety of users whilst endeavouring to make simulation more accessible to the Yorkshire and Humber region. I also participate in current courses in a variety of guises alongside my colleagues.

Clinical Educator – Helen Thacker

I am a practising Critical Care Nurse with qualifications and experience in Clinical Education.

I work in the Montagu Clinical Simulation Centre 2 days a week with Michelle and Kelly to develop and deliver courses for the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Faculty

There are other staff included in the faculty, these will usually be specialists in a given medical area of practice e.g. Paediatric Anaesthetists; Obstetricians and have had supplemental training specific to simulation and debriefing.
