Dental Emergencies 1, 2 and 3

Course Information

Dental Emergencies courses run by the MCSC are half-day courses and are usually run “in situ” in individual Dental practices too provide teaching/training using simulated crises occurring in Dental practices and to introduce the concepts of crisis avoidance and resource management. Also to enable practices to return with the knowledge and skills to address crisis avoidance and management in their own environment

It is recommended that they are held approximately one year apart and provide multidisciplinary simulation training for Community Dental Teams.  The Resuscitation Council (UK) has published guidelines:  “Medical Emergencies and Resuscitation - Standards for Clinical Practice and Training for dental practitioners and dental care professionals in General Dental Practice”.  Following these recent guidelines it is imperative that all dental practices train as a team in dealing with medical emergencies, and simulator based crisis management courses are an effective educational tool.  These courses aim to help improve training in common medical emergencies and improve human factors awareness within dental teams.
