Theatre Emergency Situations (TES)

Course Information

The 4th National Audit Project (NAP4) of The Royal College of Anaesthetists and The Difficult Airway Society (DAS) have produced a study and published their report and findings March 2011 in response to Major Complications of Airway Management in the United Kingdom.  From this report issues were highlighted in connection with multiple potential airway difficulties which inevitably could lead to serious complications and ultimately death for the patient undergoing anaesthesia.  This is supported by the National Patient Safety Agency in connection with incidents relating to anaesthesia report dated 1 April 2011 to 30 June 2011.  According to the results of the NAP4 guidelines these events and deaths may have been avoidable.  This course aims to help improve training in airway emergencies and human factors for the Theatre Multidisciplinary Teams.
